| Q: |
I typed in "the
name of my favorite restaurant" and nothing came up! |
| A: |
The basic search can find almost any
restaurant that you know the name of, but there are a few limitations.
First you have to spell it correctly. Restaurants have some
odd names and the spelling is not always obvious. Is it Davio's
or Davios? As it happens our search engine will find either,
but if you are not certain of the spelling, just type part of
the name i.e. "Davio" will find Davios, Davio's and
Daviono (if there was such a place). You only need the first
few letters (3 or 4). |
| Q: |
I tried "waterfront sea view",
but there were none, what gives? |
| A: |
Our keyword searches are
very powerful. You can type in almost any dining related word
and get a good list. However, you need to just use one word
at a time i.e. view, waterfront or theater. Don't forget to
select your state to limit the search to your area. |
| Q: |
I want to get just Back Bay
(or some other area) how do I do it? |
| A: |
Simply type the name of
the area in the search box. Examples are Back Bay, Theater District,
Boston, etc. You can also use the advanced search to locate
a specific town. Don't forget to select your state to limit
the search to your area. |
| Q: |
I am a techy and want to use wild cards to find a list? |
| A: |
There are not many good reasons to try and list all our restaurants (Those who do it know why and we see you doing it!) however the following is a handy tip. If you enter an asterisk "*" in the search box and select a state, then you will get the list of the restaurants we have in the state. This is good for everywhere except MA and RI where the number exceeds the display length so we truncate the list. You are much better off using the advanced search to find just what you need. |
| Q: |
I just want the state I live
in, how does that work? |
| A: |
Select a state from the
pull down in the search box and you will only see restaurants
from that state. If you leave it unselected then you will get
all the restaurants that meet you search term. |
| Q: |
I need an Italian restaurant
in a specific town that is fine dining - help? |
| A: |
It's time to click on
the advanced search and select the items that you want. If you
choose a town that does not have the type of restaurant you
want - either expand the area or select another restaurant type
i.e. maybe casual instead of fine dining or another food type
- you get the idea. |
| Q: |
I want to get a list of restaurants
near my office or a hotel, etc? |
| A: |
To do that all you would need is the zip code of the establishment. Only enter the first 6 numbers i.e. 02048 not 02048-1234 and you should get any and all that we have in that area. |
| Q: |
None of this helped at all!
